"Lovely historic property, a very quiet and pleasant stay. Dog was allowed in our room only, not to eat. Very comfortable bed and warm room. No fridge in the room, but had tea and coffee facilities, you had to ask daily for milk. Close to plenty of sightseeing and rambling. Hotel also provides fly fishing in season, so will return for this, as perfect by the River Derwent. "

I have mobility problems and enjoyed getting around with an unusual amount of ease. There was a large function the night I stayed but I was not disturbed. "The hotel was lovely, an older building but modern decor, very large comfy bed. Really lovely attentive staff. Breakfast was great, nice and fresh and good quality. 3 minute drive into matlock bath (20 min walk). TV decided to turn on by jtself around midnight which gave us a scare 😱. Skirting boards and bedside lamps were dusty (only noticed this as we had them on rather than the 'big light') but this is the only thing i have to say on the down side. Would definatley stay again. "

"Loved the homely cottage feel, decor was amazing. Comfortable bed. Small touches - water by bed, robes, nespresso coffee machine, fan in room. "This is a lovely friendly pub with excellent staff. The locals were welcoming as well. The beer brewed on the premises was excellent as was the food. I can't fault our stay there. Plenty of parking at the pub now, with a new car park. Handy travel time to Critch, Matlock and the Peak District. Located on the side of a steep hill, so walking anywhere is a good bit of exercise!"
