Some of the communication was difficult but the staff tried really hard and we enjoyed the stay Hard to navigate getting to and from major stations and it snowed one day at end of March Overall I’m glad we did it for the experience to be immersed in Japanese culture. "This was a very relaxing place to stay. There are hiking routes around the area. Recommend taking a stroll in the nearby mountain town. The breakfast and dinner were delicious. "It is a very small hotel in a very quiet small town. We didn't feel very impressed when we first saw the hotel. After we checked in and went to our onsen, it was so amazing and then our fantastic dinner. It was Wows!!! Everything was so perfect, relaxing and so peaceful. We also felt in love with the town. It was so peaceful and didn't want to leave. It worth every afford to get there. Love love it so so much!!!"

"The hotel is not located near anything interesting and is wildly difficult to access. I’m all for isolation but getting here is a pain and staying here is boring. It’s overpriced and I found the staff to be dishonest. No body speaks English, and while this was fine at other hotels who were intelligent enough to communicate by pointing and body language, as is standard around the world, the staff here seemed incapable or just uninterested. "

"料理と温泉がとても良い。料理は、夕食が部屋食、朝食は会場でしたが、とても美味しくいただきました。部屋食では、仲居さんと女将さんが交互に料理を運んでくれますが、会話も楽しく、弾みました。また、源泉かけ流しの白濁した温泉は、塩原温泉自体がホテルの大型化で少なくなっているなか、とても貴重です。風呂で一緒になったリピーターの方も、やはり温泉と料理に魅力を感じているとのことで、同感です。また、到着後、チェックインしてから茶菓子のサービスに始まり、部屋までの案内など、従業員のサービスも良く、好感が持てます。また、部屋ではWiFiが使えます。なお、通された部屋は、清潔ですが、眺望がないのが残念。また、隣の部屋の客の声も聞こえ、これがマイナス要素です。"
