Very fresh Japanese meals. We loved the outdoor onsen - it was a treat to sit in the hot mineral water while being snowed on. "The property offered a welcome respite from the hustle of Tokyo. Getting there is easier via express train but not necessary. You don’t need to bring a lot with you because they provide extremely comfortable clothes, slippers, and even socks while you’re on the property. Same with toiletries. They have everything you could possibly need. Excursions are wonderful but not necessary if you’re going there to relax. The food is beautiful and nutritious. There are limited snacks and drinks...

"Great hotel that is right next to the best base area at zao onsen resort! The junior suite was incredible, I really liked the Japanese styling with full western amenities. It was extremely spacious and having two in room ac units for the living room and bedroom was great. We never ate dinner at the hotel but my sister and I both really enjoyed the breakfast buffet both days we had it. Additionally despite a language barrier I found the service to be excellent. "Thank you Nikko Hoshinoyado- we had a wonderful Japanese experience in Nikko and at the hotel. We are sorry we don’t speak Japanese, and that made little things challenging a bit. We wish we knew that for a best experience we should have booked dinner at the hotel because we did not find a single suitable place to eat within walking distance of the hotel (October 18, 2024). So we did not have dinner that night. Breakfast, on the other hand was fantastic. We also loved the Onsen experience....

"Had had a great stay in this beautiful hotel. One of our group members had left behind his bag in a remote restaurant prior to his arrival and with the great assistance of the hotel staff, we managed eventually to confirm that the bag had been sent to a police station. The staff, who didn’t speak good English , had been very patient in understanding my Japanese of limited proficiency , and had the matter sorted out to our great satisfaction."
