"This motel is on the main road (US-60 or Ash Street) but was quiet during the holiday period. It is ideally situated near Hill Street, which goes into the historic district less than a mile away. Fast food is nearby, as is hiking at Round Mountain Park. El Rey is a self-described "vintage motor court" so looks the part outside. But the interior room was large enough, the bed mostly comfortable, the spacious shower always had hot water, and the wall heater worked well, with the usual humming....

"The inside was very clean, all the amenities you would need. Fresh towels, soap, shampoo, etc. We walked into town multiple times, easy distance to grocery shopping, restuarants, coffee shop!Communication with host was spot on....quick & responsive.*Parking on hill, fyi.downward, so be aware. "

"It's a really wonderful place, with a few cattle out the front door when we were there and a few horses in the rear. And a couple of the horses were positively friendly, and either really like being scratched and massaged around their ears, noses and jaws or were good at pretending. Nice peaceful immediate neighborhood too. Once you venture at all west or south, especially, you get into massive Phoenix-area sprawl."
