"Lovely staff, very welcoming and helpful"

"My friend and I met at The Ilsington Hotel for a catch up and spa plus dinner and overnight stay! I had no expectations about the hotel in advance but I must say we absolutely fell in love with this delightful family run , wonderful friendly atmosphere. The three course dinner was the most delicious fine dining I had enjoyed for years, it was so tasty. The spa and massage were fantastic. You could relax in the gardens with a coffee or lunch and it felt like an escape from the real world. We also walked to Haytor nearby and enjoyed the fabulous beautiful Dartmoor views. There are many places to visit nearby. We will definitely return. Thank you for a wonderful stay. "

"We loved the Duke Of York . So far it is the best place that we have stayed in on this trip. The food has been fantastic , wonderful made to order breakfast , the best Sunday beef roast dinner that we have ever had! The place is so unique with its history and ambience. The location is remote but worth getting to. No traffic noise , just a beautiful peaceful view from our room . The staff is wonderful and all of the other patrons very friendly. We picked this location because it was near where we were doing family research. We are so glad we did. "

"We found the hotel to be excellent in all aspects. We arrived fairly late (10pm) but were able to get a bottle of wine to enjoy in the very comfortable lounge area. The hotel is very spacious and well appointed. The gardens are beautiful and our breakfast was very tasty. Although the hotel was busy (as evidenced from breakfast) it was also very quiet and peaceful. All around a fantastic option for anyone looking for a hotel in the area and excellent value."
