"We loved this property! The house was super clean and had everything we needed. The trail up the mountain behind the house was awesome too! Every evening we saw something else on our hikes. Bear, deer (a huge buck)! It was a fantastic experience and we would absolutely love to stay there again! we would absolutely love tbehind"

"I enjoyed the summer at this very nice country cottage. The home is very clean and comfortable and had all the amenities needed for my stay. The area is safe and quiet. The farms on either side had cattle that I enjoyed watching and getting to know their habits. I made friends with some of the cows by feeding them carrots and apples every day. The neighbors were awesome and made feel at home, I will miss them. I highly recommend “Walter & Mae’s Farmhouse”. "

"We had a great stay, the cabin was clean, kitchen was well stocked with what we needed to cook meals. And most important the beds where comfy! Not to far from attractions but gives you peace and relaxation! Wonderful place!"

"This was our second year staying at the Old Farmhouse. It was just as wonderful as last year! Property is well maintained, clean, and has everything that you need. Our family of six enjoyed helping with the farm chores, talking with Farmer Walton (such an interesting and kind man), roasting marshmallows around the fire pit, petting sweet Piper and Penelope, and generally just relaxing and being together. "We loved being here and hope to return one day. It was a perfect getaway in a perfect location at the beginning of the Virginia Creeper Trail.The farmhouse was great with nice hot showers, outside fire pit and grill, plenty of games, TV, towels , relaxing porches, night time stars, and room to relax. "As soon as you pull in you are greeted by a beautiful willow tree. The property is just amazing, from the trout stream to the house. Oh my, the house, it is picturesque, it should be featured in a magazine. It is the cleanest vacation rental house we have stayed in. A big plus, just a short drive to Watauga lake. The host, Gary, is super friendly. We can’t wait to come back!"

"The pictures do not do this property justice. Book this place now, you won’t regret it! There is not much in this area to go and do but we just wanted 2 days away from EVERYTHING so it was perfect! Would also suggest 4 wheel drive to get to the location. We had a wonderful time and we will definitely be returning."

"The cabin is very clean inside. There was a lot of care and attention to the details. The location is great, close to the Dollar General. If you leave the cabin be aware that there is poor cell phone service. The outside porch could use some repairs but does not effect your enjoyment. "

"Friendly goats to feed, happily behind the fence. Close to the track , secluded feel. I wish we had more time we would have used the fire pit in the backyard . Easy to enter easy to communicate with the host. One of my favorite things was the guest book. Would definitely recommend and return. "
