"Brilliant breakfast. Central so we could easily walk to the market, cathedral restaurant area, marina. Lots of eateries around from cafes to higher end. On a side street so not a lot of traffic noise. Supermarket 3 min walk. Staff so friendly and helpful and serving staff brilliant, quietly super efficient. Room was very good, balcony, great shower. Cleaned every day. "

There are far better dining options with much better quality food at lower prices in town. You must have a car or use taxi/uber as there are no paved areas on the roads surrounding the hotel and walking is perilous. "

"The staff is absolutely exceptional. Very kind, polite, helpful and the nicest people. The location is pretty good too - about a 15-20min walk to old Funchal. The walk back could be longer due to the uphill but nothing too crazy. Parking can be tricky but I never had an issue parking at the lot that was designated for the buildings but not for the hotel. "Central location in a major tourist centre with historical significance for the city, the hostel is close to most attractions. Rooms that face the street also hear the life of the city all night. My twin room was clean, spacious and light. The kitchen is a good social place though has inadequate facilities for the number of people who may actually want to cook/eat in - fridge space, cooking pans, etc. Showers are excellent. Wooden floors very creaky. Staff are warm, welcoming and helpful."

"Hotel was in a good neighborhood that had shopping and restaurants nearby. Hotel is connected to the neighboring restaurant, where breakfast was provided which had limited options of only hard toasted bread and cereal, sugary diluted orange juice, hot milk and coffee. Due to the neighboring restaurant and good location of hotel, the room did get loud at night; we needed to put on a noice maker due to the constant noice of cars and yelling/screaming people.
