"A wonderful surprise this hotel turned out to be. Loved the old world feel of the reception area in the main hotel and the pool & sea view are exceptional. The staff was so knowledgeable and took time to show us about. We had dinner included but were not able to make it so, lunch was provided for us. The breakfast buffet is the best I have seen in Portugal with eggs made to order, warm breads and wonderful fruit salad to mention a few items. Overall, I would come back just to relax by the pool. Downtown Funchal is easily walk able as is the waterfront. The hotel can be very proud of their staff and their genuine concern for the stay of the tourist."

I actually enjoyed the city view with a grassy balcony vs facing the cruise ship balconies of the "sea view" . Breakfast was plentiful, service was amazing. "I love the location by a beautiful park, in a walkable area. Good price for older charming hotel. to be clear I dont like many modern hotels with soulless modern decor. The lobby is staffed, chocolate shop out front attached. Lift to all floors from parking garage. Setup for an extended stay but lovely for the 1 night we stayed."
