"MY Place is located in a rather pedestrian neighborhood in Hamburg, but once one arrives at the hotel, the situation changes dramatically. The hotel, while quite small, is very handsomely appointed, esp. the room that I stayed in which had a lovely color combination for bed, curtains, etc. Yes, the lack of an elevator could be a problem. "I spent 4 nights while a tourist in Hamburg. Hotel Altan did the job for me. It's a couple of short blocks from the U-Bahn station and a 20 minute walk to the center. There are lots of restaurants in the neighborhood. The neighborhood was lively but my room was quiet. "
