"This on a very steep hill next to a restaurant. The little village is very cute and you feel part of the community. It is fun to walk around the paths between the homes and explore. "On the positive side Villa Paola has a wonderful view of Lake Como and is very private. Unfortunately, there are too many things wrong with the house and the local management company to recommend it. When we arrived, the lawn was very overgrown, the outdoor furniture was a mess and there was no umbrella as pictured on the website. It took a week to get the local host company Lake Como Holiday to address some of the outside issues. On the first day we discovered the upstairs toilet didn't flush...

"My husband, son and daughter-in-law stayed in this delightful apartment in mid-May. We loved Varenna and the location of the apartment, so close to shops/cafes and sights. The Apartment was HUGE in every respect. Beds/bedding great. Very clean. The host was very generous to provide coffee, bottled waters, juice, a few groceries and snacks. La comunicazione con il proprietario scarsa, le luci dell atrio e del boschetto bruciate quindi risultava inagibile di sera e non in sicurezza. La tv solo in tedesco. "We loved our stay! The house suited our needs for our 2 night stay in Lake Como and we loved the proximity to a lovely hike over the peninsula and away from the "touristy" spots of Lake Como. A couple notes... the pool view is not the view from the house and there is actually a house in most of the view of the house with only a side view of the lake out of the main window so that was a disappointment and honestly a bit deceiving based on the pictures. There were no toiletries (soap/shampoo)...

"This appartment has a beautiful view of the mountains and lake. It has a beautiful terrace and it is very nice that there is a fence. It’s is big enough for a small family but a bit more cutterly and glasses would be nice otherwise you are washing up right after every meal. The hosts are very friendly!!"

"It was great to look at the lake. Just be prepared for a lot of stairs and narrow streets with a lot of turns. Some of the issues were that there was still some food left in the fridge, the garbage wasn't clean, the hot water finishes pretty quickly!"

"Charming house with lovely view. Positives were the open plan central floor where we could all meet, and the view from the top floor bedroom. Negatives were the regular power cuts, the smaller bedrooms are hot without AC, and the walk to Menaggio is 30 minutes and of questionable safety in sections. Overall we had a delightful stay, a great time was had by all and George was really helpful !"
