"We loved staying here! It was such a nice cozy place. It was clean, comfy beds, everything labeled, fresh eggs, peaceful. It is so close to Chirachua. There are birds to watch wildlife stars, sunset and we even watched an owl which was super cool! Jim and Janna are the nicest people. We truly enjoyed getting to know them and learning abouttheir family history and how the ranch works. We will be back for sure! "Old property but reasonable condition. Large rooms, good A/C, train track nearby but not really a problem. External security seemed sketchy, reasonably well lit but didn’t see security cameras and truck stop next door gave a bit of a creepy vibe but we had no trouble. Few dining options and the continental breakfast was sub par "

"My husband and I needed a quiet weekend escape and this place fit the bill perfectly. Despite the chill outside, the house remained perfectly cozy. It's also a very reasonable drive from Portal and the Cave Creek area if that's your trip goal. Our host was great. It's the perfect place to get off the beaten path for a bit. We had no cellphone service, but the wifi worked great. "

"This was our second visit to the Painted Pony and it was again a delight for everyone from the four-year old, through the tweens and teens, my grown and married children, and for Grandma and Grandpa. Lots of space, lots of fun things to do (swimming, sauna, basketball, pool, ping pong, etc. It is in the middle of nowhere, which we LOVED! Close to the Chiricahua Mts with great easy and hard hikes. The hosts were very responsive also."
