"Check in was awful. Asked to wait for 10-15 minutes as system “wasn’t working” with no apology or empathy from receptionist. Went to bar to get drink, had to pay as couldn’t charge to a room yet. Went back to reception with a queue of people that were being checked in (by someone else) all fine so took about 25-30 mins in all. Still no apology. "The hotel itself is a little tired in places but the staff more than make up for it with literally the best service I have had in a UK hotel in a very long time. The tea/coffee refill station is a nice touch too "

"We had a lovely overnight stay and booked spa treatments. The outdoor pool is wonderful and the indoor spa facilities are excellent. Great breakfast. Buxton is quiet but that suited us. Great Thai restaurant round the corner too. "

"Very good value for money. Hotel and B&B prices are on the pricier side in this area and this hotel is very fairly priced, we had a lovely twin room and bathroom and freshly cooked breakfast. Parking was just £6.50 for 24 hours. Location is excellent, just across the road from Buxton Opera House. Would stay again!"

"Lovely hotel The annexe area is very tired and the bathrooms need updating. The spa was ok but could benefit from an upgrade and maybe some soft relaxing music in the treatment rooms. The staff were ok. No one ‘went the extra mile’ let’s say. Staff need to be more customer focused at times felt like they were putting themselves out to accommodate us when it should be that nothing was too much trouble especially in the spa. This didn’t spoil our stay though. "

Think should have come find me when system working?? Bar was all of 10 yards away! Got to room, and whilst clean, the carpet was threadbare, the same as it was along corridor to room (3rd floor). Room was also quite dark but think that was a “theme” Went to restaurant for dinner and staff were excellent and food was really good but was overpriced for what it was. See photo (£26) Warning, again dark theme and menu was extremely difficult to read, even waiting staff struggled! "
