"Nice house, the description is pretty accurate. Quite comfortable for 8 people. We stayed in the mid of summer; the pool was very warm. The river was also warm and good for swimming. The things to pay attention to: - during hot days A/C works to full capacity. - the closest store is 10-15 min away, not walkable - if you are uncomfortable driving steep up/down hill, and sharp turns, consider staying elsewhere. "

"Our group of 10 enjoyed our stay in Penafiel. The property is beautiful - gorgeous sunset, nice pool and a friendly neighbourhood cat. The kitchen has everything that one would need, although it could use a larger kitchen sink! We loved the outdoor bbq and pizza oven. The owner communicated well with us. "This house was really unique for us for its rustic look and use of natural materials. The beds were comfortable, and there was so much space to relax including huge patio and cozy living room. It might be a bit out of the way from the main road, but it made it feel like a country escape. We had a great time."

"Overall this was a good stay. The riverfront, Cockburn’s & a fantastic Fado restaurant is within easy walking distance Our choice of room was double-booked & we were given the larger house. The ac had been turned off because the nights were cool. The problem was the day was very warm & the house was stuffy and we were told that we couldn’t leave the door open. The owner turned the ac on later in the night & it was very pleasant afterward."

Wonderful Hotel

"This was a real treat for myself and my husband. The hotel is beautiful, great location close to the city centre and transport links. Staff were wonderful, everyone from Reception, breakfast staff, doormen, room service, were faultless. Everyone we came across greeted us with a smile, super helpful and literally couldn’t do enough to make your stay effortless and memorable for all the right reasons. The breakfast buffet was phenomenal, everything you could possibly want, there were a few things on an additional menu but not sure why you’d need to when they’ve pretty much covered everything your heart desires! In the rooms bed was super comfortable, very quiet and amazing shower. We enjoyed it so much have already recommended to friends who will be visiting the city in October! "

"Excellent location Amazing friendly helpful Hotel Team. Incredible views of the Douro River and Famous Iconic Bridge! Wonderful bright breakfast room with excellent continental breakfast options including great sealed Gluten-Free bread roll option for coeliac dietary requirements.
