"Our one night stay at Landhotel was wonderful. From the moment we arrived everyone was super friendly and helpful. We stayed in April so the place was quiet and peaceful. The hotel feels very new and modern and is set away from all other ambient light sources, making it an ideal location for Northern Lights viewing. They took time to explain the amenities and dinner options. Our daughters have Celiac (gluten free) and they were great with food options for both dinner and breakfast including offering gluten free bread. The breakfast buffet was very good with lots of options. We also went to bed with low expectations for northern lights options, but they called to wake us when the skies luckily cleared. What truly set our stay apart though, was how much the hotel helped with our car trouble. We had accidentally put the wrong gas in our car, causing it to not start in the morning. They had someone with mechanic experience who drained the tank, while another colleague drove to the nearest gas station (15 minutes away) to get us the right gas so we could get back to town. Saved us hundreds of dollars and the hours we would have had to wait to use the car rental service's roadside assistance. Truly a memorable stay and quite reasonable compared to other options in the area. "

The on-site restaurant also served one of the best dinners I had in Iceland, with local specialties like Arctic char and lamb, all beautifully presented. Service was courteous and warm, and the staff made every effort to ensure guests were comfortable and well taken care of. It felt both luxurious and personal, which is a rare combination. If you’re looking for a quiet, scenic, and upscale stay in South Iceland — especially if you want to experience the Northern Lights in comfort — I highly recommend Hotel Grímsborgir.
