"It’s an old building but it was clean, staff were very friendly, everything was good, except that there’s no air conditioning and the fan was very noisy, another aspect is the beds are very hard, if they could change that, it would be great. Breakfast was excellent. "

"The beautiful flowers and plants in the facility were wonderful! Going for a swim in the pool near the reception was amazing, especially against the mountainous backdrop. The rotation is also gorgeous and worth checking out! Starting here was like staying at a beautiful nature museum. The two reception staff who served us were extremely helpful and friendly. They allowed us to check out one hour later than usual and invited us to continue using their facilities and amenities after checkout! "

"The most welcoming and kind hearted host! We arrived late and she was so accomodating, great communications and made us feel at home instantly. The room was spotless and furnished with everything you would want - lovely welcome gifts also! Wish we could have stayed longer! Great location for PR1 sunrise hike the next morning. Keep an eye out for the goats! "

"The staff is absolutely exceptional. Very kind, polite, helpful and the nicest people. The location is pretty good too - about a 15-20min walk to old Funchal. The walk back could be longer due to the uphill but nothing too crazy. Parking can be tricky but I never had an issue parking at the lot that was designated for the buildings but not for the hotel. The hotel could really use an upgrade on their rooms however. Possibly a fan as it can get quite hot. The walls are very thin and you can hear...

"The hotel is very clean and in a beautiful location, the room was a good size. The food was not really to our liking but there are plenty of other restaurants in Funchal. I would not recommend hiring a car if you are a nervous driver, the roads are very narrow and steep! I was disappointed by the service I received by the staff at Our Madeira who own the hotel, but the staff at the hotel itself I could not fault. Additional touches like more toiletries and comfortable pillows would make this a 5...

"Charming villa well located within minutes of the town. You do need a car to get there and parking on the street is easy. Rooms were comfortable and shared bathrooms were cleaned often. Great renovated kitchen with large balcony attached. The host is welcoming and helpful. I really enjoyed my stay there. "

"The kindness and warmth my daughter and I experienced at this hotel was unprecedented. Breakfast was included and was unexpected and appreciated. We loved the roof top patio and even tried the pool amidst an unexpected rain shower. Clean and pleasant. "

"You must try this place, amazing house, views, pool, host. Well situated, I would recommend a car, parking on top floor, sleeping middle floor, relaxing ground floor. Super views, has sun on the pool all day, cant fault it, I'm sure we will be back."

"You won’t regret staying here! One of the best beds I’ve slept while traveling. Full kitchen. Access to washer and dryer. It felt great to get out of Funchal and be somewhere more ‘relaxing.’ With that said, you still have access to restaurants / market, etc. Additionally, there is so much to do in the area. Highly recommend this place."

"Wonderful location, run by genuinely lovely people. We took the self catering apartment option and it suited us down to the ground. Slightly remote if you are not fully mobile. We did not want to hire a car, so used taxis a lot. We were given a driver's number and received excellent service. There is a handy bus service into Funchal."

"We stayed in the this property for 10 days. An Apartman was very clean and modern with his own wifi. Manuel was around to offer any help making sure we have everything. There is also washmashine available to use during the day. We really enjoyed aour stay!"

"Lovely small town of Prazeres with multiple excellent restaurants and a lovely well appointed house. Very clean & spacious for the 4 of us with outside space for relaxing in the evening. Air Con was a blessing ! One improvement would be a more modern smart TV to access Netflix etc especially for the youngsters, other than this its perfect."

"The hotel is in a great location just on the edge of Funchal centre. Our room was on the 5th floor overlooking the ocean with beautiful views. Our only issue was that the bed was very firm, although this was cured when the hotel added a mattress topper to the beds after mentioning this fact to Expedia."

"The hotel is above a shopping centre without any grounds around the hotel, however, it is in an excellent location within easy walking distance to the old town. All the staff were very helpful throughout our stay. The bedroom was sleek and modern with an ‘open plan’ shower/wash area. The beds were very comfortable with 3 different pillows varying from soft to firm. There are no views other than from the rooftop swimming pool and bar area but this didn’t significantly detract from the stay as we were out most of the time. The breakfast buffet was excellent with good quality ingredients and freshly squeezed orange juice. We were also amused by the mobile robot which took the dirty dishes back to the kitchen. Overall the hotel lives up to it’s 5 star billing, is excellent value for money and I would highly recommend a stay at the Vine the next time you are in Funchal."
