The downside of the location is the noise when people using the alley way go home… one night students seemed to flow past making a racket till gone 1am… the other nights were not as noisy but when your on holiday doesn’t seem to matter. "Beautiful! Clean, bright, equipped with everything you could need, very secure, we have a dog, a beautiful vase of fresh flowers from their garden and a very nice welcome pack, especially the decadent chocolate cake! Across the road was an ideal open space to walk Fraser and all the nearby towns easy to get to, ie Rye, Hastings and Battle to name a few. It’s a lovely area to explore and the cottage a wonderful find, thank you"

"We stayed in the cottage at Tovey Lodge. It was very dated, which was fine, but it was also worn out. The sofa bed needs replacing due to peeling material and the mattress on this was so thin there is no way an adult could sleep on there. Luckily our 7 year old can sleep anywhere. The main bed was uncomfortable with a too small mattress topper which didn't reach the edges and because of this we only stayed for two of the three nights we had booked as we needed sleep. "This house was perfect for me, my husband and my sister. We were at a lunch party on Haying Island and we were able to easily drive to Sheffield Park in the light. The parking was so convenient and the cottage was extremely well equipped, not that we needed a washing machine. I would unhesitatingly recommend it. We tried to set off the dishwasher just the once, but the top shelf was attached by elastic bands and so we didn't risk putting anything there. Had we been going to stay longer I would...

"We stayed for four nights in June and were delighted with the facilities provided. One king size bedroom, one double bedroom and a small room suitable for a child (we brought our own crib for the baby). Small details like the stair gate and a few toys helped too. The patio furniture was well used as we had glorious weather. Staplecross is well placed for exploring Rye. Hastings, local vineyards and National Trust properties. We would like to return next year!"

"Lovely stay at the stables. They have been converted to a high standard and were very comfortable for our family with two small children. It was great that there was a stair gate in the top bedroom as there isn’t a door. Had a nice meal at the local pub and in easy reach by car of local visiting sites. The hosts were very helpful and friendly and let us wander around their lovely garden. Would recommend. "

We have 2 small dogs, staying for 5 nights which would be an extra £200 on the bill! We queried it, and they reduced it to £15 per dog per night. But that is still an extra £150. Other places we have stayed in, charge between £20-£50 per stay. So, as lovely and convenient as it is,...
