The shops around the area are pricy but a 5 min walk will get you to the more affordable shops. Its close to the train station, I suggest using the overpass as it connects to everything. Tachikawa is underrated location, Its location is central to Tokyo and Day trip areas. "

"We had such an amazing stay at this hotel, our stay was only two nights and we wish we could have stayed longer. Not only was the hotel clean, quiet, and easy to get to, but the view from our room was beyond amazing. The ammenities were so lovely, with a quiet onsen spa with views of Fuji, and easy access to a hiking trail that leads to a beautiful viewpoint up on the hills. "Area is a little ducked off from the night life in Tachikawa which can be perfect or slightly inconvenient depending on your desires. If you want to get drunk and have a night to remember*, maybe it's a bit of a walk for a drunk person. If you want easy access to the night life but peace and quiet, away from the trouble, it is the exact right distance for you. If you're on foot and using the train system, be prepared for a little walking. Its not too bad if you like walking medium distances. There's plenty to do and see in-between the station and hotel. I can not speak on drivers' and the experience with parking, as I was on foot for my experience."
