"Bettei Haruki is unique having only 6 spacious Japanese rooms. We loved their two gorgeous Onsen rooms which were perfect in every detail - will never forget these onsens and will miss them dearly. "Very cosy and private hotel with extremely attentive staff and service. With just a few rooms in total, it provides a very intimate experience and feels almost like a private experience. Large room with great amenities and a priceless view of the entire Yufuin and mountain backdrop. Meals were a private dining experience and food quality is superb."

"Waranino is heaven on earth. Unlike traditional ryokan, this is utterly modern and beautifully set in a wooded glen. The staff are so welcoming and helpful. Someone is always there the moment you need anything. The breakfasts and dinners magnificent! Not only delicious but also plated with the eye in mind on pottery unique to the area. "We had an emergency with our toddler and had to go to the hospital. The staff were outstanding and helped us every step of the way. This was old school service and we were made to feel like more than just guests. We were made to feel like family. We cannot thank them enough. "

"A really lovely stay at a Japanese guesthouse run by a very sweet old couple. The house is in immaculate condition with charming touches everywhere. To boot, there is a marvellously manicured garden in the European style as well as a private furo bath. The guesthouse owners waited late for us and made sure we were well-taken care of. "Comfortable guest house run by a sweet lady. Very homelike feel and a huge breakfast! A plus for me was the cat, Assi. She is very comfortable around strangers and likes to meow at your door for a visit. She does go to her own room at 9pm, so won't disturb your sleep. "

"I enjoyed staying here, but there are some things that can be improved. The air filter in the bathroom had not been cleared in a really long time, if ever. No one has dusted behind the TV in quite some time. I stayed for two weeks, but was only given 1 role of toilet paper and a meager amount of dish soap. The lighting outside is very dim and I was worried about slipping when come back in the evening when it had rained. It would also be helpful to have instructions in English for the appliances....
