"I liked that the location is away from the busy are, yet close enough. Good English support. We went up the hill and explored, which I would recomment if you want to get away from the crowd. Just a few good quality shops and art galleries, and restaurants up the hill."

"Lovely ryokan. Excellent fixed-course meals (both Japanese and western). As with most traditional Japanese inns, there is little flexibility when it comes to their set ways (such as asking for a cup of coffee with breakfast, when you are only offered tea…can not do). The area surrounding the inn is also quite industrial and unattractive. But it is within easy walking distance of Beppu’s main attraction—the Hells of Beppu hot springs."

"The check-in process was very smooth from the moment we were greeted as our car pulled into the property. We were able to do some pre-check in as we arrived in the morning and allowed to park our cars there as we explored the town and shops. Upon check-in we were provided small gifts (including beautiful small drawstring bags for all the ladies). "The hotel is a bit far from station if you are travelling with large luggage, but the good news are , arranging taxi to the hotel is pretty easy . Rooms are superb, have chosen a smaller room out of all the room option but it’s still way bigger than the one that I have last time in ito. Staff has get the whole room sprayed , so I am so pleased that the whole room is out of bug!"

"A wonderful experience to stay in this boutique ryokan. Imaishi San helped us on checking in, and introduced the all facilities. He also served us the Yufu Kabosu drink during the night cafe hours. The breakfast was really delicious and delightful."

"The two of us stayed at ryokan Reimei at the end of March and we booked the reimei room with an open bath. We had the best experience ever. We could go in for a dip whenever we felt like it. The shower is on the outside with the open bath and the coldness of the weather wasn’t a problem for us since the water of the shower was quite warm and you jump into the onsen right after… (I see lots of comments complaining about that). Dinner/breakfast service time and shuttle bus leaving time was chosen...

"This is the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in while in Japan. Every floor has a different layout and the rooms themselves are like small houses. Everything is spacious, and ease to get around. Plus, the onsens are AMAZING. I almost fell asleep while using one. Most of the staff doesn't speak English, so either practice your Japanese or bring a translator with you. "
