"Very convenient location just a few minutes walk outside Bootham Bar. Parking was on street and cost £5 per day for a permit ( arranged by owner on arrival). Double en suite room was comfortable and clean, and great for a 3 night stay. It was room G1 ( shown in picture of hotel on site - the two windows directly on the street on the ground floor. ) it was unbearably warm, June during warm weather- no heating on) and we felt unable to open the windows for two reasons. - the secondary double...

"What’s lovely place to stay. Large and comfortable room, excellent facilities and a beautiful ambiance. The breakfast was first class and we received a lovely recommendation for a light evening meal nearby. It is very walkable into the centre of York, but at one point we chose to take the bus and that too is both convenient and easy. We would not hesitate to recommend Ascot House and will make it our first choice on any subsequent visit to York. "

"No previous knowledge room was loft room... wooden beams a nuisance if you are tall. Too hot as heating left on. TV signal temperamental also. Room clean, beds very comfy, shared bathroom no problem. Hosts pleasant. Good value for money. Town easily accessible. Worth a stay here. "

"Family-run guest house with a warm welcome. Easy check-in, clean and quiet room with a comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast. Walkable from the rail station and the centre of town - both about 15-20 minutes away along roads where I felt safe. I would happily stay there again."

"I was the convenient of the shops.but they were a couple of things wrong with the room The toilet flushing system was faulty along with the toilet seat which was loose. The room could do with a bigger tv on the wall so they is more on the desk to work."
