"Our first time to Shenandoah, we wanted to really focus on getting to the trails and seeing the views the space had to offer. Looking at several places, this one stood out for its uniqueness and location - and we were extremely happy with it! The space has a wonderful area around it, open and looking up to the mountains to the west with hills all around. The ride in is just off a road with a chicken farm, but this didn't interfere or hinder the experience one bit. Driving into Lurray is incredibly easy with downtown access and visiting the caverns no more than 5-10 min driving on curvy back roads. Access to Skyline Drive is also a short distance east, 15-20 min down the highway. The cottage's accommodations were more than expected and truly were intended to make you feel the comforts of a home. The rooms were laid out well and the furnishings were perfect for the space. The kitchen was large and able to support full meal prep (more on why we know this below!). There were great little touches too and while the night gets dark (outstanding for astrophotography), it never felt isolated or claustrophobic. We also had a really awesome storm come through the first night - the house (entirely stone) didn't give the slightest feeling of wind and the roof gave way to the greatest rain sounds you can imagine. Wildlife also made it's way through the yard each day, with our first 10 minutes having an eagle land in the back trees as we were unpacking. Overall the stay was fantastic and "

"Our family had a wonderful few days here. The home is lovely, set back from the road with sweeping lawns. Once you round into the back there is another huge lawn and direct river access. The view is beautiful from every direction. There are several types of boats to use and easy to get to the river. We also really enjoyed the inner tubes and rocking lawn chairs. We spent many hours playing in the water and swinging on the overlook. The home itself is lovely and we loved the wide deck where swallows would zoom by and land in the morning. There are many places to sit and the bedrooms were comfortable. We enjoyed the gas fireplace in cooler days. The kitchen had everything we needed and everything was in good working order. One thing to be prepared for is to remove your own trash or pay 5 a bag for removal which we found convenient and worth it. Lastly, the fire pit is a crowning jewel of this property- well stocked firewood and easy to set up. You’ll enjoy roaring by fires under the stars! The location was great- it has a far away feel but is actually close to grocery stores, hikes, and the caverns. We loved staying here and would definitely return for another stay."

"My 3 kids (ages 5, 9, and 11) plus our fur baby stayed at this cottage for a couple nights while we went to visit Luray Caverns. We loved the location and cleanliness! Definitely would stay here again."

"Horrible stay and an absolute rip off. B grade. Not at all getting what you pay for. The cabin was dirty, antiquated, and not well stocked. The stuff that was there, was very low quality. Bathroom was gross, toilet paper as thin and cheap as it gets, shower small, shower curtain nasty. Kitchen gross. Old and inadequate. Dishes old and nasty. Futon was horrible. Mattress old and slipped right off base. Water smelled like rotten eggs. A lot of repairs needed. Deck had broken rungs - our toddler almost fell through!!!! We don’t smoke and smoke ashes / cigarettes left right by front door. Yes…allowing toddler to play with it like a sand pit…;Shower head corroded and needs replaced. Hot tub cover was broken off side. Hot tub water was old and not clean. (Over 200 days old as indicated on the hot tub control panel as well). If we get sick / have skin issues it’s not going to be good…. Overall a complete rip off and waste of money. Will not be recommending or staying again. Very disappointing. Also, no cell service (at least with Verizon). Not near the amenities & service we usually get for this price…"
