It was a perfect stopover for us from the south on our way up to York. Not too far from the M1 but right in the heart of the beautiful Derwent Valley. only 2 things that would have made it better (for us)... 1. a little more 'fresh' options on the menu - lots of the food was 'brown and fried' which is fine for a pub, but a few more healthier...

"Not easy to find,since no street-number supplied until asked for. Expected en-suite - bathroom shared (between 2 rooms) and quite a distance from the bedroom. Access arrangements (and supervision) sketchy - via key-safe on telephoning (never-seen) owner. However, the bed was very comfortable and the location quiet."
