"One of the best Holiday Inn Express Hotels I've stayed in - the staff were amazing, extremely pleasant, efficient & spoke to every guest. A big shout out to the chef, I was very surprised at how good the food was - make sure you try the sweet potato & chickpea curry - delicious. I would highly recommend this place."

"A lovely hotel, room was fantastic, everything we needed, very clean, very spacious, we could of had our room made up every day but opted out, food was excellent, the only comment I'd give was that they need more staff at breakfast time, they were lovely, very helpful & friendly but seemed to be very stretched. Apart from that no complaints whatsoever. If we're ever that way again, will definitely stay there & also reccomend to our friends & family."

"Amazing hotel full of history. Gorgeous clean room and a bath to die for. Will definitely be back. The young lad on reception that looked after us was fantastic. He even came to find us when our room was ready early. A very old building full of character and squeaky floorboards but that just added to its charm. "

"The room was very large. Lots of space and the bed was comfortable. Needed some extra pillows. Quiet. Good price and well placed for accessing Southend shopping and theatres. The carpets in the room could do with being replaced as many stains."
