Unfortunately we will not stay at this hotel again. The property is not sound proofed at all. You can hear guests upstairs, all night was noisy because pipes was making awkward noises or something else was working there! It’s difficult to explain what was that but it’s very disturbing.

The property was in a very good location, walking distance to Cathedral and shops. Parking was available which was a big plus in Canterbury. Hotel restaurant is being refurbished which I am sure will be lovely when complete but currently bar food which was not of a very good standard.

Stayed here for one night before visiting Kent University. Close to town, a 15 min walk into the centre. We had a family room with one double bed and two single beds, the size of the room was excellent and probably one of the best sized family rooms we’ve stayed in. The front desk check-in staff were very friendly and helpful and were able to answer all of our questions. Whilst the room was clean, it was very tired and run down, the bedsheets had some stain marks on them, and the carpets have definitely seen better days. Being an old building there was no sound insulation every time someone in adjoining room or below us flushed the toilet or close the door we could hear it, especially in the middle of the night when people are getting up to use the toilets. The downstairs area by the lift had a very musty and old building smell about it. Whilst it had Carpark on site, the spaces are very small and I suspect they’re probably aren’t enough spaces for everybody who stays at the hotel. We arrived at about 7 pm and had one of the last spaces, which is rather tricky to get into and out of. Would I stay here again? Probably not in its current state, as there are plenty of other hotels in Canterbury, I would probably try one of those first. Having said that if it was to be refurbished, possibly as the room size was good for a family.

Stayed in the King room with the wife for a weekend. The staff were amazing, they informed us that work is being done ahead of our arrival which was nice as I have stayed in places that havent notified me. The work didnt affect our stay except for breakfast but overall it was a great stay. The half of the hotel they have done up looks great and once finished its going to look amazing. Wifi is very poor though at times and phone signal is bad but for us it didnt affect our stay as we were aout most of the time

When you're initial interaction when checking in is for the hotel to upgrade you to a suite then you know you're going to love your stay. The suite was wonderful with extra touches such as a speaker in the bathroom so you can listen to tunes as you relax in the deep bath. The suite was tastefully decorated and the luxurious bed allowed for a great night's sleep. The location for the hotel was wonderful meaning a walking into the heart of Canterbury was only 10 minutes away so you're only ever a short distance away from checking out the Cathedral or a range of dining options. Breakfast was another triumph with many ingredients being sourced locally such as the sausages, eggs and apple juice. I stay over night 3-4 times per month and have done so for the last couple of years and I can safely say that this rates very near the top of all those stays and I look forward to hopefully staying here again soon.

Although the hotel was very nice overall, the housekeeping was below par. We were aware that the rooms would not be cleaned on a daily basis which was fine, when we did request the room be made up, all that was done was emptying the trash, making the bed and changing towels They did not replenish the toilet paper or clean the bathroom counter and mirror. They did not replace the coffee and milk for the coffee maker. The room was not vacuumed. The restaurant was not open except for breakfast and the bar didn’t serve food until 6 pm.

Long walk into town and no mattress protector!
The hotel staff were very nice but as a hotel it’s not great. The biggest issue I had was there was no mattress protector on the bed which I was shocked by. Maybe I’m too fussy but I would expect every hotel to use mattress protectors. The restaurant was closed and breakfast wasn’t great. Orange juice was watered down and definitely not fresh. All in all not great value for money and quite a long walk into the town centre along a very busy main road.

A great location for walking into the centre of Canterbury. Hotel rooms are a basic and perhaps dated, but the new bar area is very nice. Restaurant closed for refurb so can’t comment on that, but with so many good non chain restaurants just 10 minute walk away it’s not an issue at all. Staff friendly and room quiet too.
