"I stayed two nights in Castleton in mid-November amid some early snow which made the village and the walks around the hills stunning. But the real treat came after a long day of hiking when I was able to return to a cozy pub to have a hot meal, a pint of ale and a nice read by a roaring fire. "Gorgeous from the moment we arrived. Our dogs were fussed, the staff were so friendly. We enjoyed our cooked breakfast so much aswell. A really lovely location … will definitely be back! "

The food was excellent, I especially liked the salmon and the mushroom risotto was splendid. We would have eaten there again on the second night but the vegetarian options were limited.
