"The most special thing about the Kathalee is its position. Without doubt the best beach on the island. A little paradise away from all the long tail boats. They offer free snorkelling gear and kayaks which is great. They also provide a free shuttle service to walking street between 6:30 to 7:30 pm each night. We then got a motorcycle cab back which cost 50 baht per person which is great fun if a little hairy !!! The views are lovely from the room (we had deluxe sea view) and it provides everything you need (A/C, shower and nice bed). The rooms are practical not luxurious but great for what you need on a Thai beach holiday. Staff are all lovely and breakfast was good - fresh fruit, yogurt, toast and jam etc with freshly cooked omelettes/eggs. All the staff were lovely. Koh Lipe is truly a special place and the Kathalee is a great place to spend your holiday "

"Unbelievable time here! Hotel is in the perfect location and has the best beachfront for chilling. The rooms are faultless, everything you could need and even pool access for when it gets too hot down at the beach!! Staff were amazing - service at the beach bar just perfect! Food delicious!! Can’t wait to return!! "

"Absolutely loved this place. However, I missed not having any sun loungers on the beach to relax. The stairs were quite hard work to walk up as our room was right at the top. But the staff and the view was still worth it. We especially loved having breakfast brought to our room in the mornings."

"The water in the small private beach is calm and the sand on the beach and in the water there softer than other areas on the island, lots of fish close to the shore, even some shade over part of the beach and water in the afternoon. The ocean views from the cabin are amazing - you can see the ocean from bed. The staircases to the cabins are so clean and smooth, when it’s not too hot, you can go barefoot. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The back entrance gives quick access to the walking streets that have food, restaurants, souvenirs, tour operators and 7-11. Koh Lipe is a small island - anyone going to it should have the mobility to get in and out of a speedboat & longboat easily, & navigate many stairs and uneven surfaces. "

"This is a very basic hotel room. Not really modern or chic, but it’s clean with a comfortable bed and it works. It’s in the middle of the island, so very accessible to everything by walking or taxi. Extremely close to the Walking street and all that is there. "

"The staff are excellent. Always pleasant, and very helpful and attentive. Breakfasts were wonderful with lots of choice. We particularly enjoyed the peaceful location - especially given how developed KoLipe has become (at times overwhelming). The only critique is that with the limit on lounging beds around the pool something must be done to give more fair and equal/equitable access. It is NOT acceptable that people could come out early, park their towels on the beds and aften would never appear til late in the day - if at all and/or stay for a short time but not remove towels to indicate availability for use by others There are a few small signs on a couple side tables but these are simply ignored. There needs to be more explicit signage ex. That beds left empty for more than an hour or 2 will be cleared by the staff to make way for others use - and adhere to this rule. This is a lovely high end resort that was a costly stay and it felt unfair that for the entire week-plus here were only a couple days that we could secure a space to lounge for a couple of hours. "

"We have just stayed at Mail Sunrise. We had a Balinese suite which was on the top floor of a small 2 storey block. I was under the impression we were getting a stand alone bungalow but once we entered the room I was happy! It was beautiful. Bigger than the villa bungalows and after looking around the resort I think I preferred ours. Larger and more private. The room was stunning. Large and spotless. Beautiful comfy bed, soft pillows and linen, great bathroom and large balcony. We had a fridge, pool towels and daily bottled water. The resort was nice. Breakfast offered several choices and was served 7-10.30. There are a few sun loungers on the small area outside the bar. There is no beach at high tide which makes it feel a bit tight around that area. The pool is pretty. Cleaned in the morning free of leaves etc, but in the afternoon it could have done with another sweep. Plenty of beds around the pool. Reception staff there till 5pm. After that the bar staff are around till 19pm then there is an emergency phone number. The best things for us were the room itself and the location of the resort. South end of Sunrise do less congested with people and boats. 10 mins walk to Walking Street and a motorbike taxi outside most times we wanted one. 20 min walk up Sunrise beach to Zodiac where people go to watch the sunset. Beach bars all along this route. "
