"There were just a few English speaking employees, Iwata was one of them and then the facility was a little dated but they tried hard to keep it up to par; our first room was clean except that the bathroom had a rotten wooden panel that I discovered was the cause of the smell, so after spending time with 3 people for a few hours I had the room changed to a newly refurbished and clean one...maybe because of the whole situation I got some allergies going, not pleasant. The outside area is kept clean but there were some visible area (from the windows) that looked in shambles considering that the lake & mountain views were nice, so I pointed that to the manager and staff. Dining is limited and there is JoJo restaurant near by/across the street that hit the spot. The Onsen area was good and my wife used it many times, so communication had his changes and beware of the older rooms that might have some issues that should be addressed asap with pictures with the staff."

"We loved our two night stay here! We had just stayed a few nights in ryokan, which we love but it was nice to have a couple nights in a very nice and comfortable hotel room. We booked a corner room with windows on two sides over looking the station, mountains, and city. We also paid for the breakfast buffet. Both choices were so worth it! Only additional things I wish were in the hotel are a public bath and laundry room. The staff was fantastic, the building perfectly located for quick access to trains, buses, and taxis, which are very necessary here. Restaurants and all kinds of shopping nearby. There were even stalls set up outside and inside the mall across the way for local vendors. Fukui is fabulous! We booked the Dino Liner and Prefectural Dinosaur Museum ahead and these were the main reason for our visit. The Hokuriku Arch Pass is very worth it and gets you out of some of the normal tourists spots. We would visit Fukui again, stay at the Marriott and enjoy more of the city and surrounding areas. "We had Suite Room B and it was very spacious and well maintained. Rurikoh had many good services (free shuttle to/from Kagaonsen train station, spa w/massages, outdoor foot onsen, taiko drum performance, free afternoon snacks), a beautiful outdoor onsen and large indoor one, very good traditional Japanese breakfast, and very welcoming staff. A short walk (approx 8 min) to several grocery stores and restaurants."
