"Stayed three nights to ski the nearby resorts. Easy, and free, parking right in front of the hotel. The building itself seems new. Check in was quick. Very friendly lady at the counter. Nice onsen on the first floor. Very nice breakfast. Unfortunately, the bed was very hard, uncomfortably hard, and there didn't seem to be many restaurants around the hotel. "We loved Kamei no Yu! The staff was welcoming and kind. Our room was lovely, clean and looked out onto the garden with lamps. We recieved a welcome sweet with tea, and some snacks in our room. We were able to reserve a bath time in the ryokan. It was a little unclear at booking that the more historic baths and also dinner was at a larger ryokan up the road just a bit. We didn't mind, especially if it keeps a smaller more personal ryokan in business. We only were here one night so we could visit...

"This place was a very cute, homely, with a family owned ryokan vibe. We had a nice spacious room, the biggest we had in our whole trip to Japan, with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. The futons were so comfortable compared to other futons we slept on at other ‘trendy’ ryokans. The onsen was very nice and relaxing, they offered both private and public onsen and amenities. The styling is old fashioned but this added to the charm of the place for me and I would definitely stay here...
