"The greatest part of this hotel besides the amazing staff ( Jake, Zach and Bridget ) was the history of the property, not realizing the name of the property White Star Tavern was associated to the Titanic, Every were in the hotel where pictures and historical facts of the Titanic and the White Star shipping company. The rooms were cosy and quiet even though it’s above a tavern you never heard noise. There’s no lift but it’s like walking up the stairs at home and you leave your luggage downstairs...

"We stayed at the 'cottage' part of the hotel (converted garage at the back of the main building) which was perfectly fine once we found it - we checked in after the reception closed and the directions were not 100% clear. "I wonder if this was a coaching inn back in the day as it's on the way into the city, but it's just outside the walls and on the end of Stane St, the Roman connection to the world eastwards.So it's an old rambling inn with many rooms in nooks and crannies. "The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a family lunch for my Mums 93rd birthday and everyone was so helpful and obliging. The only downside for us was the street noise early in the morning. When we stay again we will be requesting a room at the back of the hotel. We struck lucky in that the group Hot Fuzz were playing on the Saturday night and they were excellent."
