"The Paleis Hotel is in a great location for shopping, dining and sightseeing. The bed was very comfortable and the room was generously sized with lots of storage for clothing and suitcases. The only difficulty was with check in. There isn’t a regularly staffed front desk and we did not receive the email with the code to open the door to the hotel before we arrived. It was unclear how to contact hotel staff to be let in. "

"Arrived at the hotel to find we couldn't get in. No instructions emailed to us. Went online and found previous reviews and comments that said to go to no.92 to get code to unlock door. No-one knew anything at no.92 and a guy who worked in the shop next door said that there had been problems recently. Tried calling hotels.com and the owner direct. No response. Emailed them. "Perfect location. Easy Self checkin-in. Friendly owners whom went out of their way to bring us a grand breakfast as we had a competition, so we left 45mins before breakfast started. Love the 50’s room. (Soundproof as there was a music festival near the harbour, though our room was at the back). Welcome drinks in room. "Great property but the only thing was - we had a car and needed parking. Shocking 35 euros per night for parking. I can’t understand why the hotel don’t get it cheaper perhaps 20 euros per night would be more reasonable. The hotel should negotiate with the parking operator hotel rates I think "

"Hotel in quiet location convenient for Leiden and coast. We had the smallest room ‘Amsterdam’ billed as a single with 2 beds. There was no storage space, only one small cupboard. The beds were inset into wall and one was accessible only by a ladder, and on a balcony with little in the way of a safe handrail.
