"Solo female traveler approved!!! The Flamingo Hotel is a true gem. I stayed there for 27 nights and here are some examples as to why: 1. As a female independent traveler, safety is paramount. The Flamingo Hotel has an excellent reputation for safety and Francisco, the night guard, is always promptly ready to keep an eye on the hotel after hours. All rooms are electronic-entry. The hotel is a peaceful oasis placing it close enough to the boardwalk for easy walking but not so close that you feel like you’re in the fray. It is literally the perfect location. 2. Staff is par excellence: The owner, Tom, is welcoming and respectful at all times. Tom was so helpful in obtaining a taxi, is bilingual, and can easily advise on nearby places to eat or visit. Oscar, concierge elite, is the right-hand man who ensures that guests are informed & comfortable at every level. He is at the top of the hospitality game! Many reviews mention how wonderful Oscar is and they’re all true. Next, Carolina and Angela prepare the BEST food with a full menu of healthy ingredients and delicious meals (I highly recommend the tortilla espanola, huevos rancheros, or the French toast!!). 3. Location, location, location: Positioned within quick walking access to the best burritos on the island (shout out to Crazy King Burritos), many shops, the plaza, and yes the beautiful ocean! You can see the ocean from the rooftop pool. The Flamingo Hotel is a 10/10–and will be my go-to for many years to come! "

"Our flight was cancelled, so we had to rush to find a place close to the airport. There are two Daniels here, one the owner, the other the cairtaker and cook. From the moment we walked in, they made us feel welcome and cared for. This may seem like a tiny, simple place, but it is a real find. If you're looking for a place for a short stop-over, this is it! We can't recommend it highly enough. "

"All the staff were very pleasant. When we arrived we had a few issues with the room but it was repaired quickly. The breakfast was very good. The location was excellent, walking distance to alot of shops and restaurants. The view from the lobby level was great and the pool was fun, a little warm but clean and convenient. We had a lovely time. Thank-you to the team at the hotel. PS. A little heads up when the beaches are closed because of the wind or the weather would be a nice touch. We wasted time taking a taxi out to the South end of the island only to find out the beach was closed."

"First time staying here and loved it. The property was very clean, such a friendly staff, new hotel with great views of the ocean from every room and very convenient to walk anywhere. "

"We’ve stayed at a few all inclusive resorts at various beach destinations and they are not my favorite. We don’t like to indulge heavily in alcohol and so many all inclusives attract those who want to take advantage to the max throughout their holiday that it often ruins our enjoyment. The two travel styles are just very different ways of vacationing. So at El Cozumeleño there were the indulgers but the rooms somehow really blocked the noise coming from the bar and it shut down early enough. The last two days of our trip there were guest who brought a speaker and basically dominated the sitting/snacking area by the beach. Annoying The staff were all very good at their jobs and friendly. We would like to name those following who took very good care of us: Eyahir Amanda Angelica Enrique Pedro Germaine Adrian And many more. Sorry I couldn’t remember all your names. We did have an unpleasant miscommunication with a surly frown faced Omar when we were checking in that unfortunately deflated our excitement when we arrived. However, it was soon resolved - though I never really understood what happened. The grounds are well kept and beautiful. The beach is fantastic and we loved snorkeling every day just from the hotel. The food was good though repetitive but that was easily remedied by a few meals out. Buccanos is in walking distance and is a beautiful spot to eat and have a change of scenery. Thanks to all the friendly faces who welcomed us. You are very much appreciated. "
