"Jason at the front desk went above and beyond to make our stay truly wonderful. During a very difficult time—our son required emergency surgery at nearby Clínica Bíblica—Jason showed incredible kindness and support. He anticipated our needs, accommodated every request with genuine care, and consistently checked in to ask how our son was doing. I sincerely hope Gran Hotel recognizes what an exceptional team member they have in him. Beyond Jason, the porters and concierge staff were also excellent—friendly, attentive, and professional. The food at the hotel was very good, with the brunch standing out as a highlight. The location is ideal—within walking distance to several museums and just across the street from the National Theatre. All in all, a fantastic hotel in a prime location. You really can’t go wrong here. And if you have the chance, be sure to ask for Jason."

"Central location"

"The room and bathroom were immaculate and roomy. We had a wonderful dinner in the hotel restaurant up on the 4th floor looking out over the city. We ate in the lovely outdoor dining area surrounded by bougainvilleas. It was the best good of our trip to Costa Rica. The breakfast buffet the next morning was very nice with many options and excellent service. "

" Santo Tomas Hotel was a very nice stay for my family. The hotel is in downtown and is nicely gated. The desk is well manned and the gate opened almost immediately upon our arrival, even after we went out and came back very late. Comfortable beds and nice hot showers. We had our own toiletries but good to mention there was only small bar soap in the bathroom. There is a fridge and microwave in a common area. No ac but the room had a great air flow including ceiling fan. Breakfast was amazing and made to order right in front of you. Friendly staff. Would visit again!"

"This is such a nice budget hotel with a good view from the top. Breakfast is included, and the typical Costa Rica breakfast is an option. You’ll notice wear and tear from the place being an older building, but nearly everything functioned fine. My only complaint is that the electrical outlets didn’t work in my room except for the one with the fridge. My friend’s outlets did. I had a phone-charging battery pack, so it didn’t matter to me. I imagine they’d be accommodating if that were to matter to you."
