"The property was a perfect spot for me. I extended my stay twice because of the hospitality and willingness to accommodate me by Scott (the property manager). Everything was perfect and I definitely recommend staying there. I will try to stay again next time I am in Puerto Viejo. Pura Vida!!!"

"We stayed in the smaller of the two dwellings. The location is absolutely ideal as it is protected on the left side with gorgeous large stone walls. You share this space with nobody everything is within one large room. And you really don’t need any more room than this! A king size bed is delightful, the refrigerator works quite fine. "This property is run down. We showed up and the gate wasnt locking properly with an unknow time frame for repairs which made us feel unsafe for a number of reasons, including we have small children. It’s also Werth to note that the penthouse is very open and unsafe on a site on a third floor, which is not for children. "Travelling around CR for nearly a month we wanted to book somewhere near the party town of Puerto Viejo to bring in the New Year. So, we paid way over the odds to get this place for 5 nights. "We had a fantastic stay at Lazy Parrots during our visit to the Puerto Viejo area. The apartments are very clean, comfortable, safe and offer all of the amenities needed for an extended stay including wonderful breakfasts each morning. "This was a small space with everything we needed. Nothing fancy but the perfect location. Walking and biking distance to everything from, food to beautiful beaches. It was more than we expected. Sit in the front yard and see, sloths, monkeys, birds, butterflies, iguanas, and so many unique insects. Likko and the staff are very helpful and kind. We will definitely be back. Pura Vida!"

"This place is a gem! Safe , clean and so well kept. You see the staff everywhere taking care of the facilities. The room was so clean, bed was perfect, kitchenette was very useful but it didn’t have utensils of any kind, little microwave and fridge. Oh and the room is quite spacious! Hotel has one of the few ( that I saw) guarded entrances. The staff was sweet and helpful. Great place to stay! We would definitely be back"

"We loved having the beach and good dining very close. The grounds are beautiful and we saw howler monkeys, common black hawks and sloth right on the property. Playa Cocles is across the street with some major waves! Our apartment had a kitchen which was very convenient. It is close to the street and adjacent property, so not quiet. The only inprovements we would like are a replaced shower head and mitigation of the sewage smell (brief) near the stairs."

"Can’t say enough about this beautiful property. I’ve never been so relaxed. Granted we did stay in the upper level suite, but the entire place was majestic. They also have an excellent chef and bartender. Only steps to some beautiful beaches, dining and nightlife. You won’t regret it. "

"Umami is a gorgeous garden hotel! We loved our suites. The decor is just stunning. The staff is courteous and kind. Breakfast tasted amazing! We loved the rice and beans. The parking is minimal. However using bikes, a tuk tuk, or walking is the best way to get around this jungle beach town. Bring earplugs because the birds and other lodgings in the area may wake you up. As a Jamaican, I loved our culture mixed in. We loved Old Habour aka Puerto Viejo! We will definitely go back and stay at Umami again. "
