"Hotel in the jungle with a rustic charm. Room was good with a comfortable bed. Lots of ants in the room initially but I suppose being in the jungle that’s to be expected! Restaurant food was plentiful and delicious. We stayed three nights and we didn’t get bored as there was a good varied choice -buffet or the a la cart menu-. Pool towels available and the attendant keeps the pool side nice a clean, especially with his endless battle with cleaning fallen leaves up. Bar staff were very friendly...

"This hotel lived up to the great ratings it has received...and then some. Every employee we encountered was warm and friendly. The breakfast buffet was outstanding, the rooms lovely. Best was all the elephant themed art work throughout the property. It was like walking in a modern art museum!"

"The hotel is average. Rooms are clean and spacious. Amenities are good. What I didn’t like is the breakfast dining hall which is open from all sides and flies are roaming around. The butter was left open which should have been covered to ensure hygiene. Lots need to be improved."

"This resort has a good reputation for a reason. Our stay here was truly magical. The resort grounds, staff, facilities, and food are hands-down the best we experienced in Sri Lanka. "The staff were excellent and extraordinary welcoming. We are an elderly couple and the staff took care of us like we were their own children. The chief went out of his way to ask me what food I liked and cooked it especially just to make us feel welcome. That was not necessary but the warmth of the team made our holiday excellent. "This is a beautiful and tranquil place to stay. The rooms are excellent, the food wonderful, the staff incredibly accommodating and the natural habitat in which the Other Corner is situated forms perfect backdrop gor wildlife including a birds. The resident wildlife and naturalist Dhilip is a fount of knowledge and made the stay even better. The organic garden and lake are also a bonus. "The staff and management is very friendly and helpful. The rooms were subpar but clean enough. No aircon which was fine but no hot water either. The showers were non functional and no buckets were provided till requested. The property is isolated and tough to find. However for the price and for someone seeking a secluded no frills stay with kind and helpful staff I recommend the hotel."

"Taru Villas, Maia, Habarana is an amazing boutique hotel, where you felt completely by youself. The staff were amazing and always making sure we had a great stay. The food was very delicious and the rooms and pool very nice to relax in. I can really recommend this place for a nice and quiet place with lovely staff around you. "

Good but could’ve been excellent

"A little bit of frustration as it could be a gem, but the attention to details in the room make it average. Service was excellent, food was superb and properly priced, rooms were big and well designed, the flaw lies in the attention to details. Mosquito marks on the walls, cracks not plastered, gaps in doors that allowed bugs and animals (geckos and frogs) to come inside, mosquito net in shower room with wide gaps…I would be expecting this not to happen in a 4 star hotel"
