"I researched for a hotel near Piazza San Marco because my husband cannot walk long distances and much of what we wanted to do was located in the vicinity of the piazza. Hotel Cavalletto e Doge Orseolo Was PERFECT. You walked out the non-water side door off reception, went a few steps up a small bridge and once over the bridge were in the piazza! If you made a left out of the door you found yourself in the lovely, tiny streets of Venice and you really could not get lost because you only had to find your way back to the piazza to easily find your way to the hotel. Make sure to take an early morning walk before the influx of tourists for the day - it’s magical! The room was lovely albeit on the smaller side, very clean, and the bathroom was very nicely sized. Overall, the service was excellent. The daily included breakfast was wonderful, with a delightful array of choices. This hotel is part of a group of hotels in Venice, and one nearby hotel also has a delightful restaurant - San Marco Restaurant- where you get 10% off. We ate there and it was excellent. The location is just steps away from the piazza and easy to get to from the piazza. Considering the proximity to the piazza we found that the prices were fair and the food was fresh, delicious and well-portioned. We would stay here again and highly recommend. "

"The hotel is in a lovely quiet area away from the hustle and bustle of central Venice which was very welcome after a day seeing the sights. The vaporetto stop is a couple of minutes away which makes it very easy to get about. The staff were helpful and friendly and the breakfasts were excellent with lots of choice to suit all tastes. "

"Lovely classic hotel. Great location opposite water bus stop. 10 mins from St Marco Square by ferry. Friendly staff both at breakfast and for drinks at the bar in the late evening. We felt sorry on the morning of Tuesday 22nd April 2025 for one of the breakfast staff as a german traveller gave her a very hard time about the selection of breads for breakfast. The selection for breakfast was great. Plenty of variety for everyone. Great staff all round."
