"Our family of 5 enjoyed our 3 night stay here. The raging river so close to our balcony was impressive after a few days of heavy rain. Beds were comfortable, kitchen well equipped and we had plenty of space for 5. A couple of minor issues being advertised washer/dryer was actually a paid laundry service and pillow menu did not exist when requested although advertised. "

"Andre was waiting for us. Walked us to the apartment and answered all our questions. I forgot one question and sent a message. It was answered right away. Place was clean and comfortable. Beautiful view from the balcony. "

"The property was in an excellent location, close to shops but also very close to the Cloud Forest. The property was adequately equipped for home cooking and it had a lovely patio where we could watch the monkeys that would come by occasionally."

"Cute place on a quiet street that was an easy walk to downtown restaurants and a short drive to hot springs, waterfall, volcano national park and the biggest lake in the country. So many fun adventures in this area!"

Hosts are on-site and very helpful and responsive, with lots of info and recommendations for local resources. "Cabañas del Rio was a wonderful place to stay in La Fortuna. We stayed in the family unit with three queen beds and a kitchen. It worked out great for our family of 6. Wonderful garden trail to watch for birds and frogs in the morning. Felt at home here! Clean, comfortable beds, spacious. Thank you for a great stay! "

"Spacious accommodations and friendly host. Host was responsive and very helpful. Beautiful views but in the Lake Arenal area, which is quite secluded. There is one small, delicious restaurant 400 meters away, but not walkable. LaFortuna is approximately an hour drive, must have a car if staying here. It was a very pleasant stay, but not in the location listed."

"Pros: VERY VERY nice hotel with multiple large superb hot spring pools that are easy to hang around in for hours. Also multiple pools that are not heated. Restaurants and breakfast very good. Grounds are enormous with their walking paths and lots and lots of fauna/orchids. Amenities all round are very good. Drive the volcano road on the property itself for the best view in all Arenal of the volcano!!!! Rooms very large and comfortable. Easy drive to town and the national parks. We would book again! Cons: Make sure you do NOT get booked near the new construction - they should not be booking rooms that close!!. This was literally 10 feet from our room and we spent 30mins getting it changed. Rooms have just 2 power outlets for the entire room - bring power adapter. Some Hotel rooms are 50 yds up a very steep hill. Not an issue for us but would be for elderly and if you have to lug large suitcases. "

"This property is amazing because the rooms back up to Arenal volcano. In the morning, we had incredible birdwatching and were able to even see toucans. It’s walkable into town, approximately 2 km. But there are many dining options along the way. My husband and I are vegan and were very happy with our choices. The restaurant in hotel Magic Mountain offered a few vegan options as well. The staff were very helpful and Carlos, at the front desk, arranged tours for us. Would highly recommend if you’re looking for a combination of remote feel and walking distance to dining and shopping."
