"The initial room was super small and a bit smelly. Surely something you won't expect at a 4/5 stars hotel. They moved me to a better one after I complained and the lady responsible rudely told me that those were the rooms they give to people paying "lower rates" through systems such as hotels.com and that she would have moved me if I had booked through them directly but as they had to pay commissions to the website that was the room they offered. "Lovely hotel located half way between Mirmare Castle and central Trieste, 5 mins from the waterfront, good bus service outside. Very quaint and old fashioned but perfectly functional and spotlessly clean. Beds were very comfortable. They provide rice crackers at breakfast, as an alternative to bread (useful if you are gluten free) Staff were friendly and helpful. Windows were double glazed in our 2nd floor room, so no problems with traffic noise. Free Wifi was ok for social media etc."
