"The great thing about this hotel is it is just next to the JR station. You can access to the hotel without exposing to the sun or rain or snow. We had a quad room with 4 single beds. Quite disappointed that 2 of the beds are actually foldable beds which are not as comfortable as fixed beds."

"A wonderful ryokan stay with exceptional Kaiseki dinner, with dinner served in our room. Kaiseki was mostly made with produce well known in the prefecture, made with a lot of care and was so delicious. Breakfast was buffet style, which was a mix of Japanese and continental - nothing exceptional, but still decent! "The Takinoyu Hotel was superb! It was larger than I thought and very luxurious feeling. We booked one of their more traditional rooms which was very spaceous and the view of the garden was lovely. We didn't have time to visit their baths but they looked very nice. The staff were great also, very friendly and helpful! Overall excellent hotel, would definitely stay here again! "

"Staff are very polite and helpful. Best part is the hotel is only 5 mins from JR Yamagata station, very convenient. There is also a bus terminal at the train station with buses to various attractions like Zao onsen etc. Only down part is the pillow was very flat, hence not comfortable to sleep on."

"Location - there is a pick up service from jr nakuro onsen station. You need to notify the hotel in advance for the pick up service. Staff- they are very nice. I got off at the wrong jr station. The next train will be an hour later but the hotel staff was already at the station waiting for me. I was very lucky to get some assistance from a local gentleman. He called the hotel and the hotel staff drive to my station and picked me up. I also asked the reception about the transport to naruko...
