The hotel was built around 125 years ago and therefore could be described as a little quirky, all of which adds to the character of the hotel. "All the staff we met were very helpful & seemed genuinely interested in us & wanting to make our stay as enjoyable as they possibly could. The cafe served excellent food and was reasonably priced but we felt that the restaurant menu wasn't particularly good. The view from our room was superb & the champagne breakfast delivered to our room was a real delight. We enjoyed our stay immensely & would certainly go again but will give the restaurant a miss next time. "

"Stayed for two nights midweek. Our room was well furnished and very clean. Well stocked hospitality tray with an essential coffee machine and a very welcome complimentary gin on arrival. Beautiful view across the river to Polruan. Excellent continental breakfast. "Beautiful, elegant hotel with lovely public rooms, ie bar, restaurant. My room had a great sea view. The wall paper was a little dated, but nothing to worry about. When I ran a bath the water was brown - I guess because of either old pipes or recycled rainwater? But it would have been good to have a note explaining it in the bathroom, so I felt reassured to take my bath (I didn't!). Staff were exceptionally nice and helpful on the whole. The views, the walks and the convenient sporting equipment...
