"The principal is in a great location next to the station. We had a beautiful de-luxe room on the 3rd floor. The sitting area on the ground floor is fabulous. Some work is still ongoing but not surprising for a hotel of this age and size. Only complaint is it took a long time to check in as only 2 desks and the staff had to go off and collect bags for people who had checked out earlier. They should have porters to do that."

"We arrived later than our planned time and we discovered an error had been made re our room, however, the member of staff went over and above to help us out, very friendly staff all round and a great central location making it easy to walk around most of the sites you would wish to see in York, I would highly recommend this Hotel "

"Lovely hotel and bar but not without issues. There is very limited parking. We arrived 2 hours prior to check in and the parking was full - plus they ask £15 per night for guests. Breakfast was excellent, the rooms are small but well equipped. The lifts are a law to themselves - overall it was a nice stay but don’t expect to park your car here "

"We had planned a 3 day stay in York and decided that this hotel would be a good place to be, it looked quite nice on the outside, it was out of town but very close to the Park & Ride. We were given a suite in the old part of the building. I sometimes cringe a little when in old hotels, they can be so expensive to upkeep that things can look well used and shabby. Actually the room was ok, but remember, this is the old bit! The floorboards spoke to you as you walked across the living room floor,...

"Excellent location. Only issue was lack of food available on the second evening due to staff shortages. ( not really what you want to hear when you are hungry). The bathroom was lovely, however it was a little high to climb into the shower, bath and someone who was suffering with a bad a leg found it hard going, also getting out of the bath/shower there was no hand rail to support. "
