"The Winchester Hotel and Spa was a great value stay. I stayed one night for a birthday treat to be able to enjoy the spa. The spa facilities are excellent and included in your stay. The gym was surprisingly well kitted out, but the spa was the highlight. A lovely relaxation area, good amount of places to lounge, lovely heated pool, sauna, hottub, steam room and plunge shower. "Stayed at this hotel for a night before a cruise . Booked double spacious room , which was modern and airy , also spacious . Bar area was nice too , prices average . Staff were very pleasant. Breakfast was good too . Walkable to shopping mall and bars . Would definitely stay again . "

"Lovely hotel, close to the cruise terminal, had checked in prior to arriving, straight to the room, offered taxis pick up the following day which was great. Had evening meal, some confusion with the bill, given a free drink for the following day. Breakfast the following day included, didn’t see any fried eggs, hash browns or black pudding so a little disappointed but did enjoy."

"The staff were very friendly, and helpful. The room was clean and well maintained. Although an extension lead was quickly provided unfortunately this meant there was a cable across the floor to power my CPAP machine. I think socket next to the bed should be provided. Also I would expect USB power facilities in the room. "

"Like this hotel having stayed before. The room was very comfortable and generally quiet although we did get an early wake up (before 06.00) due to refuse collection but it has to be done. The only points we were not particularly impressed with was that the bathroom bin had not been emptied before we arrived and contained used sanitary products. Also, for the price we would have expected the bed to be made and it wasn't."

"One of our rooms still had a discarded pizza box from a previous user still with food in it. Communal toilets are very old and battered. Some of the rooms we couldn't open the balcony doors. The restaurant staff gave the feeling that they didn't want to be there. The rooms, food and facilities from a comfort point of view are excellent and the reception chap we booked in with was absolutely brilliant and very helpful. Would stay again. "

"Beds were comfortable and the room was well furnished, clean and pleasant. It would have been nice to have decaffeinated tea bags available, as my partner doesn't drink caffeine. But the big disappointment is having to pay for car parking even overnight. We noted that many car parks in Winchester were free on Sundays. I did know about this prior to booking. Also taking a £50 deposit showed a lack of trust in customers. I think the car parking charges are unpopular with the hotel's customers."

"Lovely hotel. Staff were so friendly. 2 small gripes; I expected a more modern TV to be able to cast to, sink in the bathroom was completely blocked and wouldn't drain at all. Other than that, great stay."

"Nice property stayed a few times, keycard didn’t work and then when in the room and the key holder for lights fell off! No restaurant open as a Sunday only the pub style bar. But comfy and clean."

Excellent spa hotel

"The Winchester Hotel and Spa was a great value stay. I stayed one night for a birthday treat to be able to enjoy the spa. The spa facilities are excellent and included in your stay. The gym was surprisingly well kitted out, but the spa was the highlight. A lovely relaxation area, good amount of places to lounge, lovely heated pool, sauna, hottub, steam room and plunge shower. Excellently comfortable and clean and would be great as a spa day too. The rooms are a clean and comfortable. The restaurant for dinner or breakfast didn't really appeal. The hotel was easy enough to find and a short wander from the train station. "
