We had a 1 night stay before our cruise the next day , we stayed in room 21 All the staff were lovely and food was really good The hotel is in beautiful grounds and is a very historical grand building But I’m afraid things needs updating , huge horrible stains in carpets in room and around hotel , wallpaper peeling off the wall in bedroom , and large stain on the ceiling , shower bath area needs re grouting , mould around seal , old paint left on door handles etc Needs someone to go round make a list of repairs and sort out , was a little dirty around floor in the bathroom too One more thing to add , coffee machine in restaurant for breakfast doesn’t offer decaf coffee !!! With a husband with heart failure this isn’t good enough It’s 2025 Apart from the above , not a bad stay Not sure it was worth £152

Wonderful stay

Only stayed one night with our dog. We were allowed to take her for a walk anywhere on the grounds which were extensive. Had our evening meal and breakfast with other dog owners in the bar area which was great. Staff very friendly and helpful - will definitely be returning.

Great location but hotel is dated, tired and needs some love When trying to ring reception prior to arrival, very frustrated as it kept going to ansaphone, didnt get ring back and just felt that for such a large hotel having someone answer the phone is fundamental, we tried at least 6 times between 10am -11.30am on a Saturday morning We noticed Stains on carpets in corridors, rubbish in stairwells, walls were marked Room was fine, clean but quite old fashioned Breakfast was ok, buffet style, self service, but slow to replenish empty food, ie no eggs, juice jug empty, only one hot drink machine working The stay was fine, definitely no more than 3 star

A Beautiful Hotel, Spoiled by Greed,.....

The hotel and staff were amazing, we loved the hotel and the beautiful grounds. The location was ideal visiting the New Forest and Southampton. The only thing that spoiled our trip was the stupidly expensive bar prices, We stay in a lot of hotels, so we are used to inflated prices, but these were obcene for mid ranged hotel! £21 for a pint of Carlsberg and Gin& Tonic!!

This hotel is nice and clean, staff are friendly and polite, the room was excellent clean, I had to cut the weekend short because I come unwell and decided to go home I didn’t want anyone else to get it and spoil there stay .

A grand hotel

Lovely hotel set in spacious and decorative grounds. I have stayed her once before and parking became awkward after 7pm. Very nice room with a good spec. Shower was ok but the shower heads had seen better days and there was noticeable mould on the tile grouting. The night's sleep was not very comfortable but I woke up to get a fantastic breakfast from the buffet available. The hotel guests have access to a small but well-equipped gym and had plenty of nearby options for dining.

Thoroughly enjoyed the stay. The room was very warm (opened the windows) and a little noisy (presumably due to ventilation or pipework). The bar area is lovely, staff friendly, approachable and very helpful and breakfast was brilliant - everything was really fresh and tasty

The place is gorgeous from the outside and even better when you walk into the bar area. Food was quick and lovely (I ate from the bar menu) and everything was great value. You genuinely feel like they are under charging for how nice it is.
