"Good atmosphere in the bar, and good value. The room was comfortable. It is a very old building, and the outer door to the accommodation wouldn't close. It would not have taken much effort to fix, but that was not for me to get involved in. I would have loved to have had longer there, there's so much to explore in the area."

"Stayed here on a whim, travel a lot with work and try to pick small independent places where I can, usually with a pub. Unfortunately, the pub was shut as it was a Monday, but I just crossed the road and went there for food and drinks so no problem. The room was beautiful, bright, very clean and very spacious. It looked newly decorated and done very tastefully, felt like I was staying in a stately home, not the local boozer! I mentioned to some locals I was working with that I was staying here...

"This is a relaxed small hotel - a bit like a guest house / hotel with good dining and bar for locals. Sawley is very convenient for Fountains Abbey but isolated - a car is essential. The Spanish chef was very good, as was the room andvthe staff attentive "

"Amazing location. Clean and comfy room. Fridge on landing where we could keep fresh dog food and milk, they can be noisy in the room so great idea. Needs to update to a decent coffee machine if the sign outside says ‘coffee house’. Only filter served and not very nice. Some really lovely, friendly staff. Would definitely come back. 9/10"
