"The rooms are comfortable and nice looking, but mine smelled of smoke and mold. Gave me a headache. Not a lot of food choices except for a traditional, long proper meal, restaurant on the first floor. If you are looking for quick food, you are out of luck. I didn't try room service. Overall, if you need to stay in the area for a quick night, then it is fine, but I wouldn't stay for any longer than a couple days. "

The Wannian (Ten Thousand Years) temple on Emei Shan (Beautiful Mei Mountain) is a place of serene atmosphere. The quiet is impressive, the architecture is very nice and the atmosphere is imposing. As you enter the compound the first thing you see is a walled pond with fish, turtles, stones and money. Believers throw in paper money and coins, and monks take it out with a net. Inside the main pavilion is a statue of a golden Buddha on a white marble elephant. In front of this statue people bow, kneel and pray. In the back believers gently stoke the elephant's legs for reasons I didn't manage to figure out.
