"Hard to review stay as I was suffering from after effects (but clear) of recent Novo contracted in UK as lost 8-9 lbs. So did not due what I expected to do & 1/2 way thru stay started to pick up. "I stayed here for one night before catching a flight to another island. At €100 per night – the most expensive rate I’ve paid on Cape Verde – it was a huge disappointment. As a Gold Member on Expedia, I was promised a bottle of sparkling wine, which was missing. Instead, my room came with a cockroach (photo attached). Maybe it drank the wine for me. The air conditioning didn’t work, the shower drain was clogged, and mosquitoes thrived in the stagnant water. Housekeeping seemed questionable too...

"Staff is impersonal, particularly at reception where they need to be super helpful. My husband come down with flu and asked at reception if they had any medicine and the answer was “ no “ and end of, not an alternative offered or even indicating the nearest pharmacy. Rooms were okay, clean but worn out and the daily room keeping rushed as I would find dirt on the floor from the day before. Food was well cooked and tasty but not much variety offered as the days went by. "

"This was a great hotel for us. Very good location (less than a minute from the beach but at a fraction of the cost of one of the resorts) and in the heart of Santa Maria.
