"This was a great hotel for us. Very good location (less than a minute from the beach but at a fraction of the cost of one of the resorts) and in the heart of Santa Maria. "I stayed here for one night before catching a flight to another island. At €100 per night – the most expensive rate I’ve paid on Cape Verde – it was a huge disappointment. As a Gold Member on Expedia, I was promised a bottle of sparkling wine, which was missing. Instead, my room came with a cockroach (photo attached). Maybe it drank the wine for me. The air conditioning didn’t work, the shower drain was clogged, and mosquitoes thrived in the stagnant water. Housekeeping seemed questionable too...

"I'm not a fan of resorts when I am on holiday but this was a very good experience. Cleanliness is the most important thing for me and the hotel was very clean, even the courtesy rooms. Buffett could do with some variety as there is a lot of pork.
