"The location of the hotel is amazing, you cannot be closer to the Great Buddha, it is also a good experience to sleep in an old Japanese room. That said, you then understand why old Japanese houses are not worth much and Japanese people tend to prefer living in some modern less exotic dwellings. Indeed you can hear everything that happens in and outside of the house. I visited while the weather was really good (around 20 degrees) so I did not use the AC neither for heating nor for cooling but I can imagine that in the summer it would be very hot and in the winter very cold."
