"My spouse and I booked the Fosshotel Hellnar as a stop on our Iceland road trip. It ended up being the perfect location to stop after 1 day travel from Reykjavik and partway around the Snaefellsnes peninsula. We were cold and tired by that point and the Fosshotel was so comfortable on our arrival. The fireplace in the lobby was very inviting. The room was spacious, comfortable and the heated bathroom floor tiles were such an appreciated luxury to us that day. We enjoyed dinner at the hotel...

"Property was as expected. We were informed just prior to our arrival that the onsite restaurant was closed and there were no other food options available in the town or nearby. This was inconvenient however, we made arrangements due to their pre warning. Breakfast options were limited but overall okay. Hotel was fine for a one night stay if you just need somewhere to sleep. The man on reception/breakfast was extremely friendly and helpful. "

"The property was clean and the staff was friendly. The view was incredible. We woke up to the mountains behind us and the ocean and horses in front of us. The only thing was the shower was hard to operate and there is not 24 hour front desk. It was also hard to find a cheap restaurant close by although there were more expensive options. all in all, we loved the room and property and would recommend!"

"The area by this hotel is amazing. It was clean and nice, though on the smaller side. Hot water is limited but shouldn’t be an issue if you take quick showers. "

"The surrounding area is beautiful and the cottage was cozy. Staff was also very friendly. My only complaint is that we didn’t find out until entering our unit and seeing a sign on the bathroom that they don’t get much hot water. The sign says to use hot water sparingly. I made sure to get all the way in the shower before turning the water on given the warning. The warm water didn’t even last 2minutes before turning ice cold. "Truly a gorgeous apartment on the sea looking out at the Atlantic and the fjords. Amazing sunset views and we saw the aurora borealis our one night there. It is also minutes from the stunning national park at the end of the snaefellsnes peninsula. Best bed and sleep we had in Iceland, would highly recommend. Only thing is the grocery store and even gas station close around 6 (at least on Sunday when we were there) so get groceries early if you need food or plan to cook here! "

"Very spacious and comfortable, quiet apartment overlooking the sea. Very well equipped kitchen and only problem we had was choosing which of several options to sit to enjoy the views! Only minor criticism was bathrooms a bit tatty but clean and functional. Village is easily walkable to enjoy the murals and views. On the edge of the national park as well. Mural Restaurant in Adventure Hotel, 5 minutes walk away is a superb treat for a good meal. "

"Wonderful stay at this farmhouse. Convienently located at the start of peninsula attractions if you are going counter clockwise around it. Nice people, nice walks and hirseback rides, and fantastic food."

"The outside of the building looks terrible. Abandonbed. I thought my husband was joking when he said that was it. But the inside was completely redone and surprisingly modern and clean. Communication was terrible, but thank goodness the couple who cleans was there and they were a huge help, otherwise we wouldn't have been able to get our access code. "

"No staff onsite. To check-in we were given a phone # to call for lobby and room key code access. No one answered the phone. Local Icelander helped because there was another hotel with same owner in the next town and she called them to help us with access code. Others had the same problem. One couple had to sleep in their car because they couldn’t get their access code via phone instructions either. "

"The location is phenomenal, and the views are spectacular. Eva provided excellent hospitality at her property. I would definitely stay here again... I’m sad we only stayed one night."

"My spouse and I booked the Fosshotel Hellnar as a stop on our Iceland road trip. It ended up being the perfect location to stop after 1 day travel from Reykjavik and partway around the Snaefellsnes peninsula. We were cold and tired by that point and the Fosshotel was so comfortable on our arrival. The fireplace in the lobby was very inviting. The room was spacious, comfortable and the heated bathroom floor tiles were such an appreciated luxury to us that day. We enjoyed dinner at the hotel restaurant as well as their breakfast buffet. All of the food was delicious. The prices were shocking to us in Canadian dollars but we got used to that in Iceland after a while. For the large portions and great quality, the prices were comparatively fair. The hotel didn't have some of the amenities that we had in other stays during our trip but the location was beautiful. We had a gorgeous view of the glacier from our room before rain and fog settled in low for the evening. "
