"Bar and rooms were clean. Lady who checked us in at the bar was friendly and gave the information required about codes/keys. Our room was direct above the bar and looked over the smoking entrance so was loud until closing. Overall a great, comfortable stay. The room was compact but unless you were planning to spend a whole day in the room, it was perfect for sleeping and getting ready for the day. "Fantastic location, convenient base for short Ullswater stay. Staff mostly great and welcoming, rooms very clean, corridors and paintwork showing wear and many scuffs. Room tea coffee facilities excellent, evening meal was very average and probably over priced. Breakfast, service and overall environment lovely and excellent service. Set us up well for the day and one of the nicest breakfasts I've had. Would definitely consider a return stay when in Ullswater. "

"Not staffed, you receive a code for entry on day of arrival, all worked great. The room was clean, decorated nicely, had a huge bathroom with large shower and free toiletries. Internet was fast and reliable. It was very quiet. The heart chocolates on the pillows (it was Valentines the day after our stay) were a cute touch."
