"Everything about the accommodation was excellent, especially the staff! Despite the communication struggles, they were very helpful and provided great service during my stay. The free shuttle service to the ski resort was also extremely useful as they would drive you to your desired resort and pick you up at your specified time. "Location is perfect. Just a few minutes walk from the station and chair lift. Kitchen staff is very thoughtful. I stayed for 3 nights, although all 3 nights were hot pot for dinner with the same ingredients, the soup base was different for every night. Staff are super friendly, making you feel welcome. The only issue I had was on the first night when there kids staying and they ran around the whole lodge making all sort of noise until late."

To avoid an absurd taxi fare, catch the local train to Shiozawa and arrange for the property owner to pick you up at the station. That aside, the property itself is very basic, but also charming. Owner is absolutely lovely. Location has outstanding views, and the back of the building directly faces a ski lift. As long as you're not expecting much from the place, it is more than sufficient for a quick stay."
